My cousin Michelle is one of my favorite people ever. I'm pretty fond of her beautiful boys and her super cool husband as well, so it's always a joy to work with them. Grayson had to warm up to the idea of doing photos, but he gave me some of the sweetest, most heart-melting smiles I've ever seen and then on the way home from our session, he told Michelle that he loves me. (Swoon) I love that boy too!

Baby Jagger

The Little Fighter

I met Rachel Olimb a few days ago but she has been on my mind every night between 1 and 3 AM for the past year.

When I was 16 weeks pregnant with my daughter Jordan, I started having contractions and before we knew that they weren't going to be any danger to the baby or pregnancy, I spent a lot of time laying around trying to keep them from being too frequent. As a gal-on-the-go, it's really difficult for me to be still for very long so I entertained myself with a laptop and a pile of books in bed. On one such contraction-heavy day, I was loafing around when I saw several of my Facebook friends mention a baby named Paxon who needed prayer. I checked out the blog they mentioned and was immediately drawn in to the story of a family who had been fighting for their boys.

They had one son named Asher who had Cystic Fibrosis and their unborn son Paxon had Cystic Fibrosis and a chromosome deletion that was probably incompatible with life. I was heartbroken for them and couldn't get this suffering family out of my thoughts. I don't know if it was because I was about as far along in my pregnancy as Rachel was in hers, or because of my work with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep or my general love of babies and children, but I began following the story of Asher and Paxon and praying for them in earnest.

Paxon was born on Christmas and passed away just eleven short days later. I had my baby Jordan a few days after that and while I was celebrating the birth of my healthy baby girl, Rachel was mourning the loss of her sweet son Paxon. It really felt like injustice. Jordan was born a chubby and generally happy baby but has been inexplicably the worst sleeper in history. She has kept me in a state of zombiehood for a solid year now and she and I have had to spend a lot of quality time together in the wee hours of the morning.

It was during these first few nights home from the hospital when I desperately wanted to put Jordan down and go to sleep that I thought of how Rachel must have desperately wanted to be awake holding Paxon. I felt guilty on these nights and reminded myself of how blessed I was to be holding my fourth baby all night long. I turned my guilt to prayer and was hoping that somehow Rachel was getting rest and finding peace despite the emptiness she was sure to be feeling. Not only did she lose a son, but she had another son who will have a lifelong battle fighting to breathe and fighting for his life.

Several months later, I sent her an email letting her know that while we don't know each other, she and her sweet son have been in my prayers and on my mind. It felt crazy to reach out to someone I didn't know (whom I'd totally been blog-stalking) but I felt led to encourage her and let her know that Paxon wasn't forgotten, and how I thought of him often. Thankfully, Rachel received this well and has since asked me to help with the fight against Cystic Fibrosis, which I'm more than glad to do.

Thankful for some way to actually be of help, I'm donating a newborn session to the auction for Cystic Fibrosis research on February 25th which will be held at Redemption Church in Gilbert. I would LOVE to see my session bring in some money to fight this awful disease and I would LOVE for my clients and friends to come and support this family and their little fighter. Together we can do so much for this boy, this family, and all who are affected by Cystic Fibrosis.

I had so much fun photographing five year old Riley and her mom at The Grove in Gilbert. Riley was very talkative and kept me laughing the whole time! I just love the 5 year age - kids are hilarious at this age and Riley was no exception. Thank you Rhonda for such a wonderful session with your sweet girl. It was a joy working with you!

Baby Liam

What a joy it was to work with precious little Liam. He was a bit wakeful in the beginning but he went into a good deep sleep and I was able to do so much fun stuff with him! His mom and dad were great to work with as well, and his older cousin (who I also photographed as a newborn) even stopped by for a few shots. : )

Jordan's 1st Birthday

My my, how time flies. My 4th (and last) baby turns one today!!!! I can hardly believe how quickly this year has flown by. In some ways, it seems like we've always had her and in some ways it seems like she's still so new. She's amazing. She's wonderful. She's the happiest baby ever, and she has the most pinchable cheeks and squeezable tummy. Jordan Rose Kennedy is such a sweet blessing and I still can't believe she's mine.

I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again ... I LOVE newborns! Really. They are my very favorite to photograph and I feel pure joy when I'm working with a precious, tiny baby. It's even better when I know and love the parents of such sweetness. I've known Erica and Jimmy for years and it was an absolute delight to work with their adorable new baby girl, Cadence. She was delicious. She was beautiful. She was amazing. She slept for a solid 2 hours while I worked with her. Yay!!!! I just love when that happens. : )

Merry Christmas From The Kennedy Family

What an amazing/difficult/beautiful/busy/hectic/sweet/awesome/crazy year this has been. Our 4th baby was born on January 17th and life at the Kennedy home has been a whirlwind of beautiful chaos ever since. While there hasn't been a whole lot of sleeping going on, we have sure had fun together and have enjoyed every moment with our four precious kids.

Our oldest, Madelynn is now in 1st grade, losing her teeth and reading books like a grown up kid. It's incredible how fast those seven years have gone by and I look at her in amazement for what a wonderfully smart girl she is.

Our son Brendan is nearly 5 and is such a joy to be around!!! He's the funniest kid ever and usually keeps me laughing all day. I love how big he is now, but how little he can still be. I love how he still wants me to kiss his owies but how he can ride like the devil on his bike. He's so much fun! If you follow me on facebook, you've no doubt read a few Brendan stories. : )

Our boy Aidan is turning three in a few weeks and he's our gentle giant. What a tenderhearted boy he is. I love his cuddles but I also love how he likes to talk now. In fact, if you ever have the chance to be alone with him, you might wish he'd stop talking! He is still painfully shy with people he doesn't know but once he warms up, he's the sweetest kid in the universe.

Baby Jordan is almost a toddler! I can hardly believe how quickly her first year has flown by. It's almost like it has been one really long day with a few brief naps here and there. Emphasis on brief. She's not the greatest sleeper, but wow is she happy anyway! Though I could use a few more hours of sleep, I really cannot complain because she has been the easiest baby of them all. She always has a smile for everyone she meets and she joyfully claps for everyone (and even herself)! She's waving and saying "hi" to everyone now, but she isn't walking yet, for which I'm grateful. : )

One 3 Photography has had a busy year too! After Jordan's birth I took a few weeks off but was blessed to be busy busy busy once I started working again. I'm so thankful for my friends, family and clients who have trusted me to capture their sweetest moments this year. From weddings to babies and everything in between, I've shared some incredible experiences with the best clients a girl could ever ask for. Thank you!!!!

The Cooke Family

It had been years since I'd seen Alison Cooke but she was just as fun and sweet as I remember her from our childhood. The leaves were in full Fall bloom at The Pecans in Queen Creek when I photographed the Page family. We've known Nelisa for a long time, so it was an absolute joy to photograph her amazing family Her girls are the cutest ever and were so much fun to work with!!! The Harmon Family

I had such an amazing time photographing the Harmon family. We had a few scheduling mishaps, thanks to rain and illness but when we were (finally) able to get together, we had a great time! Little Maddy and sweet Jacob were so much fun to work with. Jacob was a little shy with me but we managed to get some smiles from him and he has the sweetest smile in the world - especially when he's running. : )

The Devlin Family

My husband Ryan is a big guy who isn't fond of shaving, so he's usually rocking the rugged, mountain man look. Sometimes we find that his overt manliness really frightens the little ones during our photoshoots, so he often has to duck behind a tree and shoot with our 70-200 telephoto lens so the kids can forget he's there while I work closely with them. This was not the case with baby Cash Devlin, who absolutely LOVED Ryan and hardly smiled for me!

Cash has the biggest, most infectious smile I've ever seen. His entire face lights up when he smiles and you can't help but smile back at him. What a sweetie! Once we realized how much he loved him, Ryan kept the smiles rolling while I photographed this precious boy and his lovely parents.

It really seems like just yesterday I was photographing sweet baby Madelyn for her newborn photos. She was probably the sleepiest little gal I've ever worked with! Now that she's 10 months old, she isn't sleepy anymore but she was just as delightful to work with as she was for her newborn session. I got to meet and photograph her amazing older brother TJ too. Wow, does he know how to smile for the camera!!! And he has the most amazing eyelashes! This boy is beautiful and so sweet and fun to work with - I could have taken his picture all day.

The Newquist Family

When I was in the 1st grade, I made a few friends that have been special to me throughout my life. I'm so blessed to have had these friendships for so many years. Sarah is one of those friends that is dearest to me and though it may be a few months in between getting together, it's always as though no time has passed at all. And like many of my cherished friends, Sarah "gets" me, which I appreciate. : )

One of my favorite things about Sarah is that regardless of whatever difficulty or even tragedy may surround her, she just exudes joy. She's one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I know and I am so blessed to be able to call her my friend (her husband Tim is pretty cool too, by the way). Don't get me started on how beautiful her daughters are. They're seriously some of the most breathtakingly beautiful children ever!!!

Sarah, I love our shared history together, I love our girls' nights out at Floridino's, I love that you always remember to text me on my birthday even though I don't always do the same and I love that you trust me to capture sweet memories of your family. I love you dearly, my sweet friend.

The Schaub Family

I was rather pregnant with my daughter Jordan at this time last year and having difficulty keeping up with all of my sessions so I had to refer quite a few clients to other photographer friends of mine. I received a call from Kate who wanted to do a newborn session but I just couldn't do it. I was so disappointed because she seemed so sweet and I LOVE newborn sessions! I was delighted, however, to get a call from Kate again this year asking me to photograph her sweet boy Graham for his 1st birthday. Yay!!! My, my, that year went by fast, didn't it? I was so sad I couldn't do his newborn session, but so flattered that they would think of me a year later.

Graham was the sweetest little boy who loves to ride his fire truck (and he looks so cute doing it!!) and he gave quite a few smiles (many thanks to his daddy who entertained him for me!). I just loved working with this sweet family.

The Fine Family

I think I'm love with a boy named Colin.

It was the second time I'd photographed the Fine boys and the last time, Colin was playing hard to get, but this time he made his intentions clear: he wanted to come home with us. I really considered it, because how could I possibly say no to a precious 1 year old who loves to cuddle? All through our session, while 3 year old Gavin was smiling like a rockstar and being awesome, sweet Colin would run up to me with his arms held high for me to hold him. Enter heart-melting-adorableness here. A three year old who is a dream to work with and a one year old who loves to be held and snuggled???? Heck. I'll keep them both.

It was tough, but then I remembered that I have four kids of my own and the parents of these sweet kids would miss them terribly. (Sigh) Well, since I can't keep them, I'll just have to settle for taking sweet photos of these super guys and their amazing family.

The Romo Family

We had such a great time with the Romo family for their Christmas photos. I had photographed baby Rex for his newborn session a few weeks earlier and it was a joy to work with his older brother Rylin this time around. I think Rylin may have been the easiest kid to photograph ever - every time I asked him to smile, he rocked it with a natural award-winning-I-know-how-to-work-the-camera kind of smile. And even better was that his mom picked out some ADORABLE hats for the boys. You know how I love a good hat!

Rolling With It

Sometimes you just have to roll with it. As a mother of four young kiddos, I've learned this the hard way. When I photograph my own kids, I'm always aiming for something like I try to give my clients - happy faces, smiles, a good pose, and a relaxed photo session where the focus is on having fun. However, because I'm doing mom and photographer duty at the same time, there's often a lot of threatening my kids, bribing them, and hoping they'll just sit still long enough for me to get behind my camera to take a decent photo of them all together. It usually ends up being very frustrating for me and for them.

So this year, their Christmas photos were tackled a little differently. We're rolling with it. We're having fun, we're not worried about the pose, we're just worried about having fun.

It worked.

I think this image may be destined for a huge ginormous canvas on a blank wall in my family room where we spend the most time together. Is it perfect? No. But I love the imperfectness of it. My oldest, Madelynn, happens to be missing a bunch of teeth and kind of looks like she has to pee because she's giggling at her crazy brothers and tends to bend a bit when she's really laughing. My son Brendan isn't in perfect focus because my shutter speed was a little low and he was having a grand time jumping on the couch but he's in his natural state - a blur of crazyness. Aidan is doing whatever he can to be just like Brendan, as usual. Our baby, Jordan seems to be surprised that she was born into such a whirlwind but she's sweet and happy and I could just reach into the photo and pinch her fat little leggies. My, oh my, I love this photo.

As a mom and a photographer, sometimes you just have to roll with it. Jump on the couch, laugh so hard you have to pee and love every moment of it.

It was a delight to work with Ariana, Michael and their twin girls, Abriana and Eliana. I was totally blown away by these sweet babies, who were 8 months old when I photographed them. They were born at 24 1/2 weeks and were a little more than a pound each at birth. Today they are healthy, happy, perfect girls with lots of smiles! What a beautiful blessing these girls are and so fun to photograph too!

Baby Rex

I'm always a little envious of tiny babies with tons of hair. Mine were all fat and bald, so when a sweet little baby comes over with a head full of hair, my whole family tends to stop and gawk and say things like "Look at all that hair!" It's such a novelty in our house. : ) Precious little Rex was no exception to the Kennedy Family gawking, and he might just win the prize for the most hair on a baby ever! Just think of all the fun you could have with that hair – mohawks, faux-hawks, spikes, curls – oh, the possibilities are endless! Ok, beautiful hair aside, Rex also might win the prize for the longest eyelashes ever. I mean, these eyelashes are to die for! What a handsome little guy he is and he was so fun to photograph! Congratulations to his proud mom and dad – Rex is a beautiful little blessing.

Charlie's 1st

Charlie Grace was one of the tiniest newborns I photographed last year. She was just 6 pounds of perfect cuteness and she somehow seemed even smaller than that. It's hard to believe that she's now a talking, pointing, laughing, smiling one year old! She's crawling everywhere, can stand on her own and has the most beautiful blue eyes ever. What a sweetie! I had so much fun with her and I look forward to watching this little gal grow! Happy birthday Charlie!

Baby Madelyn

I love working with newborns! Really, babies are probably my favorite subject to photograph. I do have a bunch of laundry to do after any given newborn session, but who cares! I get to hold sweet babies all day. : ) I've noticed with newborns that either they are totally unconscious and you can do virtually anything with them, or you spend 4 hours trying to get them to sleep. I've also noticed that the smallest babies are the most wakeful babies! Sweet Madelyn was five pounds of itty bitty teeny tiny perfect. What a precious, but wakeful girl she was! She really made me work for it, but it's all totally worth it when you get the shots you've been aiming for (even if I have laundry to do!).

Grady's First

Time flies when you're having fun! I can't believe it was already time to celebrate Grady's 1st birthday. It seems like just moments ago I was taking his newborn photos. It's such a blessing to be a part of such special moments, and with such an amazing family. We had a blast photographing the Simmons family with their precious boys Hudson and Grady for Grady's 1st birthday. It doesn't get any sweeter than an adorable little boy covered in cake. You could literally eat him right up!

Baby Kennan

What a perfect little boy Kennan was for his newborn session. His session was just a few days before my family moved, so his awesome mom was kind enough to ignore my mountain of boxes in my home studio space and we had a wonderful last session there. He just slept and slept and slept, like a perfect little model and even allowed us to do some of the trickier poses without even batting a beautiful eyelash.

The O'Rear Family

Ok, I'll be honest. Large groups of people are not my favorite to photograph. They're just so tricky to get right photographically. You have so many things to consider when working with groups larger than, say, 4 or 5 people and things tend to get out of hand quickly. I come from a large family, and I cherish our large family photographs, so I totally get why it's important to gather all your loved ones and photograph everyone together and I absolutely encourage it, but these large-group sessions tend to make me a bit nervous. You just never know how it's all going to go. So, when Amy called to ask if I would photograph her and her husband, their five adult kids and one grand daughter, I had no idea how much fun they would be to work with! What a blast we had with the O'Rear family. Everyone was a delight to photograph and I don't think kids come any more adorable than sweet Ella. : ) It was a refreshing session and a wonderful reminder of how each and every session is different and beautiful (especially those large groups!).

Thank you Amy, Ron, Camille, Cameron, Tim, Sarah and Justin for the amazing session. You guys were wonderful and I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Baby Caleb

I photographed Christa & Jarod last year for their engagement session and then again for their beautiful wedding. I had so much fun working with them and I was totally overjoyed to hear that they were expecting a baby (and totally hoping they would ask me to photograph the little one). Caleb James was born and I had the absolute delight photographing him for his newborn session. It was wonderful to see Christa again (we missed you, Jarod!) and I loved every minute I spent with sweet Caleb who rocked his first photo shoot like a superstar. He even let us put him on top of his daddy's Texas Longhorn football helmet! Hook 'em! : )

Mandy & Brandon's Wedding

You know how sometimes your first impression of someone is totally and completely correct? I realize it doesn't happen often, but I had that experience with Mandy when I met her to chat about her wedding in Cottonwood. Within a few minutes, I felt like I'd known her and her amazing mom for years and I knew I really wanted to photograph her wedding, which was sure to be so much fun! It wasn't just the setting that made me want to be a part of it (though green fields, barn doors, and old trucks did sound like photographic bliss) it was how kind Mandy and her mom were and how fun they were to be around that made me super excited to have the honor of being their photographer. The wedding was set at Mandy's home and in the nearby area and we had a blast doing their photos. Even better than the setting was the incredible love between Mandy and Brandon and that always makes for beautiful photographs and cherished memories. : )

Though we are always tired after a wedding, we talked a lot on the way home about how much fun we had and how every person we met was amazingly warm, welcoming and kind. Mandy's family, in particular were a joy to work with and be around. Thank you Mandy and Brandon for having us be a part of your special day, we were honored to help you capture the beautiful day you and Brandon celebrated. We wish you all the happiness in the world.

Baby Trinity

Is there anything better than a baby? How about a sleeping baby all cuddled up and wearing adorable flowery headbands? Yes, that's the greatest thing in the whole world. Even better is the fact that I get to photograph all this preciousness. Sweet Trinity was an absolute delight to work with and the perfect example of such photographic preciousness! She slept right through most of our session, letting me click away and capture her newborn-ness. I love the fancy girly-girl tutu that her mom brought over too!

I met my friend Travis when we were in the 1st grade ... which was like 25 years ago. (that makes us sound really old!) and he has been one of my very favorite people ever since. After an ectopic pregnancy and consequent surgery that left Emily with one fallopian tube, it was exciting news to hear that Travis and Emily were expecting another baby! Unfortunately, poor Emily had an ovarian torsion and had to have surgery to remove it while in early pregnancy. This baby was going to be it for them and we prayed for a safe delivery of this precious boy.

Samuel Stewart Phelps was born on July 2nd and he is beautiful and perfect little boy who will be greatly cherished. I loved working with this sweet boy and hanging out with my friends Travis and Emily, now amazing parents of an amazing gift from God.

Christmas 2010 was amazing. I was a few weeks away from having my 4th baby and we gathered as a family at Meaghan & Mark's house for our family Christmas dinner & presents. When we arrived (late, no doubt) there was a cute little stuffed lamb on her counter. When we asked her what was up with the out-of-place stuffed animal, she smiled broadly and announced that she and her husband Mark were expecting a baby!! Yay!!!! What an amazing Christmas gift! We were all totally overjoyed and anxious to watch her grow into a mommy and to meet the newest member of her family. Her due date was going to be on my birthday too! Yay! Happy Birthday to me!!! During Christmas dinner (for which Meg made the most amazing lamb) I just kept looking at her and beaming. A sweet baby for Meaghan and Mark. Can.Not.Wait.

We celebrated her baby shower at Arcadia Farms in mid-July and then the maternity session a few days later, which was so much fun. Meaghan is not only my sister-in-law, but one of my dearest friends and it was such a joy to photograph her and Mark during this incredible time in their lives. We even went out to dinner afterward and talked for several hours about what the upcoming weeks would be like. Little did we know that sweet baby would make his grand appearance just a few days later and three weeks early!

Perfect-in-every-way Joshua Ryan Wesbrock was born on 8/2/11 and we're all madly in love with him. Newborn photos are currently underway. : )

I love a sleepy baby! Ok, well truth be told, I love all babies, but the sleepy ones really make my job easier. : ) Sweet baby Grace was one of those little gals that sleep through the whole session and we did so much with her in record time! What a beautiful little girl she is, and I was totally envious of all her luscious dark hair! My babies have all been fat and bald, so it's really fun to work with a tiny one with a full head of gorgeous dark hair!

It's so fun to watch a bump turn into a baby! I love doing maternity sessions and then the newborn session. It's like Christmas when you finally get to see what's inside that beautifully wrapped package ... but better. : ) I was delighted to meet sweet baby Elijah, who looks EXACTLY like his beautiful older sister. These kids are gorgeous and their parents aren't so bad either. : )

Two tiny pink lines can change your life.

Remember the moment when you held that pregnancy test in your hands, squinting to see if the second line was indeed fading in? Yep. It's positive. You're pregnant. It takes a few days or maybe a few weeks … ok, maybe months for the reality to set in but your baby is on his or her way and you cannot wait to hold this little precious baby in your arms.

I've been there. I have been blessed with four incredible kids and each pregnancy was miraculous, intense, special, difficult, amazing, and beautiful (except for those stretch marks which are less than beautiful, but hey, you can't have it all, right?). Before my hands were full with four busy little darlings, my arms were empty and my heart had a gaping baby-shaped hole in it after two miscarriages. The losses were early, just 12 weeks and another at 9 weeks, but the pain was deep and I spent a year or so grieving two precious babies that we so desperately wanted but would never hold.

Fast forward 8 years and I am the proud mom of a whole bunch of crazy kids and I'm a photographer who loves newborns. I heard about an organization called Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep that provides free photography for those precious babies who are born still or who never make it out of the hospital. At first, my reaction was of horror. How could anyone do that job? I never could … or so I told myself. I couldn't get the organization out of my mind and I decided to ask my OB doctor if she'd heard of NILMDTS, had she ever had to call them and was it really valuable to the families or was it just a way for photographers to feel good about themselves? She assured me that it was so helpful to the parents for their healing journey and so important for the families to have something to hold on to and a way for their baby to never be forgotten. I decided to join NILMDTS after her encouragement, in hope that I can be a help to the sweet families who have lost so much more than I could possibly understand.

I'm not going to lie about it, it's a difficult job. The fact remains, however, that I can help someone in a very unique way, and that makes it worth doing. We need your help though. Because we are all professional photographers and many of us have young families and other obligations, sometimes it can be difficult to find someone to cover a call and we are desperate for more volunteers. If you are a photographer, we'd love to have you shooting with us. If you're not a photographer, we could still use your help to be an advocate or Parent Coordinator for NILMDTS. If you're in the media, or you know someone in the media, we could use your help to get some news coverage to raise awareness for this organization so we can reach more photographers. I love surprises!!! Ok, that's a lie. I'm a terrible secret-keeper and I can't take the suspense of waiting for surprises. However, when it comes to having babies, I think surprises are best and the Mcleod family agrees with me. I photographed Steven, Katherine and their beautiful girl Emerson for Katherine's maternity session and I just love wondering what kind of baby is in there! It was such a fun session which began at San Tan Mall and ended in a field in Queen Creek. Emerson was a busy gal, but she gave me a shot or two of her loving on her mommy and baby sister or brother. I was about 6 months pregnant with my last baby when my brother told me they were having a girl. I didn't know what we were having, but I hoped it would be a girl too so we could do all sorts of fun girl-cousin stuff together. Hadley Sophia was born on March 27th and every bit of her is adorable! I met her just a few hours after she was born and then again for her newborn session. What is a proud aunt (who is also a photographer) to do? Take pictures, of course! Hadley rocked her newborn session, and I have a strong suspicion that she's going to be rocking everything she does as she grows. Two Fine Boys

When it comes to photographing kids under the age of 3, you just never know what you're going to get. Sometimes, even the best behaved little ones can have rough days! And sometimes, those happen to coincide with photo sessions. : ) So, when Audrey asked me to photograph her little guys, ages one and three, we chatted about it being more likely to be a candid-only kind of session, which nearly always works for their ages. If you can get them playing and laughing, there is the possibility of photo magic, even if they aren't willing to pose or sit still for more than a nanosecond. I can't say how delighted I was to meet and work with these little boys who were not only a joy to be around, but also were happy to pose, smile and stay put for my camera! That almost never happens for this age group. What a fun session we had with these adorable boys and their super cool mom.

I love to work at the Grove Church in Gilbert, but they irrigate on occasion and I never know when that's going to be. When I arrived for our session with the Fanning Family, the grove was pretty muddy but we made it work! I have to hand it to Sarah - she took off some really adorable shoes and braved muddy toes for the duration of our shoot. I generally do a fair amount of laying on the ground during a session, so I was totally covered in mud afterward, but it was worth it! What a fun session!

I know I've said it before, but I LOVE working with newborns. True, their sessions usually last longer than any other (about 4 hours) and I do have some laundry to do after working with naked babies, but these sessions give me the most joy. It's the newness of them, their soft, perfect skin, tiny fingers and toes, fuzzy little heads ... what's not to love? This little guy Elijah was no exception to my baby photography love. When I was in the 7th grade God put a very special person in my life, my dear friend Myra. We started out in the nursery so we could capture the anticipation of waiting for Max to arrive, with the goal of photographing their sweet beagle, Stali. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about this session. Dawn contacted me to photograph her kiddos right at the end of my pregnancy and I wasn't able to do the session thanks to my over-large baby that was giving me trouble. I was so flattered when she said they'd wait for me to do their photos after I delivered. Then, I was further flattered to learn that they were going to drive all the way to Queen Creek from SURPRISE to do the session. Ok, so if you're not familiar with the Phoenix area, that's pretty much from one side of town to the other! So, the pressure was on and I wanted this to be a super-amazing-fabulously-great session and, I'm happy to report that it was. : ) The Schmidt kids were a delight to work with and we had such a wonderful time with them.

Well, this post is a few weeks overdue, but we're delighted to welcome our 4th baby to our family. Jordan Rose was born on January 17th and we've been enjoying every minute of her since! Merry Christmas friends!

What a fabulous year this has been for One 3 Photography. This year, my husband Ryan and I had so many wonderful sessions - from infants to weddings and everything in between, we have felt so blessed by our wonderful clients who've trusted us to capture their most cherrished moments. We have the coolest job ever.

As a family, we've had a pretty amazing year too. Ryan and I celebrated 10 years of marriage in Hawaii this past spring, without kids! We learned on the day we left for our trip that we were actually bringing one with us and that little darling was going to be born on or around January 25th. Now with just a few weeks to go, we're anxiously awaiting the arrival of our 4th baby. My, my, this year has gone by quickly.

Our daughter Madelynn started Kindergarten this year and it's been so amazing to watch her do such big-girl things like ride the bus, read books to her brothers and make new friends. She loves school! Her brother Brendan will be turing 4 in a few weeks and we're constantly laughing at the funny things he does and says. He's quite a character. Our little man Aidan is turing 2 in February and he's been a little chatterbox, constantly talking about what he sees around him. He loves to read books and play ball and he also loves to cuddle, which is our favorite activity with him.

Our lives have been so blessed this year and we are so excited for what 2011 has in store. Merry Christmas to you, your families and your friends.

When one of my favorite clients called to see if I'd do a photo session for her daughter and her best friends as a birthday gift, I was super excited. First, I love this family and second, I knew it would be FUN! We had such a great time with Tatiana and her friends Taeyler and Morgan at Tempe Town Lake and Mill Ave. After our shots at the lake, we were surprised (ok ... and annoyed) to find that one of my favorite spots on Mill was impossible to get to thanks to some police blockades due to an event, but we made due with another cool alley that was equally as awesome.

My Loves

It's hard to believe that it's getting close to Christmas. I am really not sure where 2010 has gone but it has flown by in a flash. I have so much to celebrate this year, and as I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of our 4th baby, I have been spending a lot of time reflecting on how grown up my kids are getting. They are such amazing little people!

I've been a mom for nearly 6 years now and it's the coolest job ever. I pour my life and soul into these little wonders and I love when I can also use my photography to capture them as they grow and change. To be 100% honest, photoshoots of my own kids are a daunting task. It's really quite challenging to be both parent and photographer and my kids react differently to me being behind the lens than any other kids do. Let's just say ... they're not always very cooperative. So this year, I went with a new tactic: separate sessions! The group shots are always the hardest, especially with my little darlings, so I abandoned it entirely and spent some quality time with each kiddo on their own shoot and I was very happy with the result.

What a sweet little guy Grady is. He was just three days old and oh so sleepy for me when I photograhed him. It was a joy to work with Grady as I had previously photographed his big brother Hudson too and I just adore this family.

This was one of my favorite weddings ever. Sure, it was 110 outside and that isn't all that much fun but I had the privelege of photographing a dear friend that I've had since I was six on one of the most special days of her life. How cool is that? Well, I'll tell you, it was pretty cool. Jen and Paul were such a joy to photograph as they celebrated their wedding day and we felt so honored to be a part of it.

Paul and Jen, you guys are the best. We love you dearly and look forward to many exciting days and blessed years to come.

Baby Rowan

This little gal was the sleepiest baby ever! What a cutie she is! We did all sorts of fun poses with her and she slept right on through it all while we worked. Rowan is one lucky girl - not only is she beautiful but she also has a sweet big brother to look out for her and it would seem as though these two are going to grow up to be good friends. Big brother Isaac was as delightful to work with as Rowan, so this was a great session for us!

Congratulations Miranda and Jeff, Rowan is a beautiful blessing from God. : )

My Sweet Aidan

Oh my little guy is growing up fast! He's just about 18 months old and so full of sweetness. Aidan is a pretty shy little boy, but when he's around people he knows he's full of precious smiles and giggles.

We did this photo session as part of my mom's grandkid project and shot the whole session in her garden. He didn't seem to mind hanging out with Grandma and her cool "old stuff" that we used for props for his session. During the end of the shoot, we were visited by my mom's chihuahua, Taco who ordinarily will have nothing to do with the kids but as Aidan was stuck in a bucket, he felt safe to investigate. What a fun session with my guy!

Steven

This was a fun shoot with my precious nephew Steven at the Goldfield Mine. He's a nine year old who loves cars and Legos and is also autistic. I must admit, I was nervous going into this session because I didn't want to stress Steven out with my constant flow of directions and posing. He completely blew us away with how well he did. He was amazing! He had lots of fun looking at the old cars and seemed to be enjoying himself,completely unphased by our photograhing him. I love this guy more than I can ever say.

My Girls

As a photographer, I often struggle with taking photos of my own kids. You would think that I'd have bizillions of photos of them, but I don't often do photos of daily life kind of stuff. It's hard to enjoy them and live in the moment with them when I'm behind the camera. So, we do frequent photo sessions and this one has been one of my favorites ever.

We took my daughter Madelynn and my niece Raquel and did a session of them together. Born just 5 weeks apart, these little gals are the best of friends and it was really fun to capture their sweet friendship, which I hope they will always cherish. This particular sesison was a project for my mom's grandkid photo wall, so she got their adorable dresses and then ordered the flower crowns from the lovely ladies at The Cottage at Queen Creek who gave us exactly what we had in mind.

What a fun time we had with this fabulous couple, Christa and Jarod, for their engagement session. It was a brutally hot day here in Phoenix, but they were a joy to work with despite the miserable heat! We are very much looking forward to their wedding in Show Low this October! This little guy was about a month old when we photographed him, so he was already getting a little particular about how he liked to be held and positioned. He wasn't a huge fan of being on his tummy. Oh this baby was precious! Just two weeks old and 100% adorable, we had a lot of fun with little Max for his newborn session. He slept beautifully and was a perfect little guy for us! The Burleson Family

This is one amazing family, some of whom we've known and loved for years, others we have just met. This super-secret session was done in late April as a gift for the fabulous Cheryl Burleson from her kids for Mother's Day. Baby Gunner

What fun we had with sweet baby Gunner. He was just two weeks old when we photograhed him and he slept like an angel. His daddy is in the Marines in Afghanistan, so I thought it would be fun to wrap Gunner up in an American Flag, just for him. What a cutie! Check out this precious boy:

What a fun session this was. Two adults, a three year old, a sweet baby and NINE puppies!!!! I know that may sound like mayhem, but it was loads of fun. What could be better than adorable kids and a wagon full of puppies? Well, it was a bit of a challenge keeping the puppies in the wagon, but they were precious anyway, even if they were trying to jump ship. : )

It was so fun to work with the Vomlehn family again. We photographed baby Emmy when she was a brand new little gal and she's getting so big! Thank you Craig and Vanessa for such a wonderful session!

Oh, how completely precious these kids are! We had such a fun session with them at the Mesa Arts Center. Noah and Jacob

These little guys are extra super special to me. Not only were they really fun to photograph, but I loved every moment of being in their presence as they are our newest nephews. What beautiful little boys they are, and they are nothing short of a miracle and a sweet reminder of how blessed we are to have them. Born premature at 31weeks, it took a while for us to be able to meet and photograph them, but they were still very newborn-like, even though they were nearly two months old when we worked with them. When they were born in March, they were 3lbs 14oz and 3lbs 15oz. When we met, they were each 6 pounds of itty bitty perfection.

Congratulations Keely & Steve, we couldn't possibly be more in love with sweet Noah and Jacob.
